How to set up the Xampp?

Hi,

I'm totally new to Apache Friends. I have downloaded XAMPP for Windows 1.4.13 (25 MB Installer), and installed it. The location of installation is "C:\apachefriends\xampp". I run it from "start/Programms/apachefriends/xampp/xampp Basic Start"
"start/Programms/apachefriends/xampp/xampp Basic Restart"
"start/Programms/apachefriends/xampp/xampp httpdoc folder"
"start/Programms/apachefriends/xampp/php switch"

I don't know what to do next. Can somebody help me? I read somewhere to open port 80 (HTTP) and 3306 (MySQL), where I can I set that?

I tried to in the browser "http://localhost" and I dont know what's my IP address. Nothing is coming up with this. Nothing Comes up, not even Blank page, Just InternetExp. with saying loading http://localhost.

In the "XSMPP Control" it says Apache: running, sql: running, FileZillaFTP: stop, Mercury: stop

==============
I also tried the ZipFile of XAMPPLITE, and having same problem.

What should I do next? Please help me!

Thanks

when I click on "xampp_restart.exe", it says the following:
-Please wit [Bitte warten] .. Can't create IP socket: No Error
-050422 9:58:29 [ERROR] Aborting

-050422 9:58:29 [Note] mysql\bin\mysqld.exe: Shutdown complete

### APACHE AND MySQL is STARTING now! ###
[Do not close this window whild XAMPP is runnning]
mysql\bin\mysqladmin.exe: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't create TCP/IP socket <10050>'

I think it could be the problem. Can somebody help me with it?

Thanks

if you have skype running, turn it off before starting xampp

What's skype running? Is it firewall? I did turn the firewall off before running starting the server.

Thanks

1. You need to refer to readme_en.txt first carefully.
2. mysql\bin\mysqladmin.exe: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't create TCP/IP socket <10050>'
This means that your system can't connect to database mysql.
You have to set user id/password before connection at phpmyadmin/config.inc.php.

3. You need not check your IP to setup system.
4. Filezilla, Mercury are not essentially required to your server.
5. If you want further help, post your questions at my site. I think you you can hardly get necessary information promptly when you need at german site.

never done this before....helpppppp!
