innodb MySQL

I'm trying to switch innodb on in my.cnf. As a default mysql has it set as having innodb = disabled (as seen in phpMyAdmin). The mySQL site suggests that the default is enabled for versions greater than 4.1.5 When untouched everything is fine but when I remove the #'s as required from each innodb expression then mysql cannot be started. Is there something extra I need to do? I dowloaded and installed today - a very easy task - thankyou.

OK, its sorted. I deleted a # incorrectly. My congratulations to the team who have provided one of the best bits of software I've come across in many years.
