Hi Apache Friends

I believe that I have effortlessly down loaded your excellent program however due to the fact that I am an absolute beginner I can not the PHP test page.

Below are the facts
System Windows XP Professional

I am using Dreamweaver with your bundle.
I had being using Dreamweaver with MS IIS and ASP.
Have disconnected IIS.
Still have
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TheCookingPlace\index.htm
C:\Inetpub\mailroot which has several folders in it all of which are empty.
C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts which is empty.
Which were created by Dreamweaver.

When I click on http://localhost/page.php I get “This page can not be displayed”

When I use the checking facilities in
xampp-win32-1.4.13-installer.exe
Apache …………Running
MYSQL ………. Running
FileZillafTP ……Stopped
Mercury ……….. Running

I have turned on your bundle. When I do I get a black screen which reads
### APACHE + MYSQL IS STARTING NOW ###
I assume that starting now means it is running. I minimise it.

I do not know how to check the PHP which is part of your bundle or if it is running.
Save the I am not getting a response as detailed above.

When last Dreamweaver with ISS and ASP the following were created.
Still have
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TheCookingPlace\index.htm
C:\Inetpub\mailroot which has several folders in it all of which are empty.
C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts which is empty.
Which were created by Dreamweaver.

I loaded your down load file into a subdirectory
C:\WebSoftwear
And
C:\Program Files\apachefriends\xampp
And in Dreamweaver made
Local Root Folder C:\Web Design\Begining DW MX\The Dreamweaver Hotel\
Remote Folder C:\Web Design\Begining DW MX\The Dreamweaver Hotel\
Testing Server Folder C:\Web Design\Begining DW MX\The Dreamweaver Hotel\
Home page C:\Web Design\Begining DW MX\The Dreamweaver Hotel\

FAQ
Looking at your last point in Looking FAQs “I would like to move the XAMPP package into another directory! I would have attempted to have the files in a sub directory as you can see from above.

Would it be worth uninstalling removing the Inetpub and re-installing?
Is there any configuration I should do apart from following the wizard?
How would I upload to a virtual Browser Notepad with <?php phpinfo(); ?> to check PHP.

Just to confirm I am an absolute beginner. (Not for long)

All the Best
Jacky
