Apache will not start

Postby leeaston » 17. March 2005 01:56

Hello, I uninstalled an old version of XAMPP and installed the latest version.
Now Apache will not start, I get:
Installing Apache2 as an Service
(OS 10048)Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted. : make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:443
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs
Now we Start Apache2 :)
The service name is invalid.

Any help, ideas would be very welcome. I'm out of my depth.

Thanks
Lee

Try stopping skype

Postby rbalassa » 17. March 2005 20:26

Hi,

I had the same problem.

I downloaded the "Active ports" software to check which program was using ports 80 and 443. I noticed that skype was using them.

I then stopped skype, then try starting apache and it worked just fine.
