Connect to Oracle DB

Hi,
I am using minixampp v1.3 on windows, and I need to connect to the remote oracle DB.
i tried editing php.ini file, but still unable to connect.

following is the error:
Call to undefined function: oci_connect() in C:\minixampp\htdocs\nuke\modules\Project_Metrics\Test_DB.php on line 12

I heard that we need to compile php as --with-oci8[=DIR], where DIR defaults to your environment variable ORACLE_HOME. how to compile ??

Also how to set the Oracle environment variables?
