Don't worry....I am where I was before all this rubbish happened.

Thanks so much for all your help.

I will probably need you again, but let me struggle on a bit now.

Thanks again

Ok, back again!

Am trying to send the test email now, but get "Error! The message was not successfully sent!"

This is where everything started going wrong in the first place.

What must I do now?

This is what my hosts looks like:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 www.example.com # For browser access
127.0.0.1 mail.example.com # For email access
127.0.0.1 example.com # for mercury mail server

and I have tried both "example.com" and "www.example.co" in my browser, but the test message does not get sent:

Mailing with Mercury Mail SMTP and POP3 Server

We don't know this book, so we can't know what is on pg. 39...

but the test message does not get sent:

You are using the email form from the XAMPP demopages or your own script?

(Is Mercury running?)

Mercury is running, and I copied exactly from the book.

The book is called-

e-Start Your Web Store with Zencart

And you think we now buy this book just to help you? Why don't you just paste your Code here, then we can see what is going wrong.
