Try to use ini editor of AMPstart newest version 1.2.3.0

I have downloaded AMPstart 1.2.3.0.

it works fine on the desktop, one click it starts both apache and mysql. when used on the laptop, it starts only apache, not mysql.

when I click AMPstart to start apache and mysql, there jumps out a screen requesting internet connection. after canceling the request, the apache is running but not mysql.

for the ini editor, I don't know how to use it. It will take me a while to figure it out.

Should I modify any of the three docs listed in the right side block of ini editor? how to edit it?

it wouldn't work.

I tested AMPstart v 1.2.3.1 on desktop windows XP and on laptop Vista with the internet connection turned off, it works fine. but it doesn't work on the laptop Mel.

on the laptop with Mel, it starts the apache, but cannot start mysql.

there is no firewall installed on Mel.

maybe the Mel is defected, or should install some other systems. the machine may be too old.

I will take one more try in next few days

nevertheless, thanks for help

I have formated C drive on the laptop, installed window Mel, installed xampp.

this time, both apache and mysql wouldn't start, no matter what I do.

believing it is the window Mel which might be too ancient a version to work xampp, maybe I should install linux system onto the laptop.

can I have a link to download linux/ubuntu system and instructions of how to install?

nevertheless, thank you all for all the help. I appreciate it.

thanks for the link.

to install a ubuntu system in place of windows is not an easy task. so I tried a few more times installing xampp on the laptop afterwards, the result is even worse. both apache and mysql wouldn't be started.
