Install and run Xammp

Hi Everyone
I am new to xammp and have installed the software but when I try to run Apache I keep getting the same error message i.e.
Status change detected: stopped
12:13:40 [Apache] Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly.
12:13:40 [Apache] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
12:13:40 [Apache] improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.
12:13:40 [Apache] Press the Logs button to view error logs and check
12:13:40 [Apache] the Windows Event Viewer for more clues
12:13:40 [Apache] If you need more help, copy and post this
12:13:40 [Apache] entire log window on the forums

I thought this was because of Skype but I have turned Skype off as I found the new version of Skype will not allow me to disable port 80
Is it possible anyone can help with this new error as I am intending to use Joomla
