New XAMPP 1.8.0 for Linux and Windows

Postby Oswald » 13. July 2012 20:03

After several months of hard work we are proud to announce a new release of XAMPP for Windows and Linux.

The most important updates are: Apache 2.4.2, MySQL 5.5.25a, PHP 5.4.4, and phpMyAdmin 3.5.1.

After this release we will focus again on the Mac OS X version of XAMPP. Sorry, for the delay, we're simply short on man power.

Get the downloads and more details on the platform specific XAMPP project page.

That are great news :D
I want to say thank you to the whole developer team for all the time and hard work done.
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!

It's like porn for programmers 8)

Fantastic news!
Really grateful for the wonderful software. Thank you all very much.

The new control panel looks beautiful. I love how easy it is to edit the ini and conf files.
The upgrade was really smooth. First uninstalling 1.7.7, then installing 1.8 with the installer.

*** 443 port conflicts:*** If you're running VMWare or Skype, in the Xampp control panel, you'll want to hit Config on the Apache line, select httpd-ssl.conf, and change the 443 everywhere to something else, e.g. 4431.

For more info about the install, e.g. 500 error or CURL or having PHP parse html, click the page on my profile.

Now asking my VPS host to upgrade php to 5.4.4!
Thanks again, I'm stoked.

Wishing you all a beautiful weekend.

Also this came at a moment when I was desperate for Unicode support in PHP (5.4-version specific), so you couldn't have picked a better time. Thanks again!

Thank you!!! I've been using xampp for many years and I appreciate your work.

...so sorry to whine a bit, but are zip extensions (i.e. zip.so) being dropped in 1.8+ ? They don't seem to be part of the package though they are still referred to in php.ini.

Thanks again!
