Virtual site number

Does anyone know how to locate the virtual site number in the directory path of a web site on an apache server?

Do you wish to count x different domains/subdomains?
When not, please explaine it a little bit more what you want to do, or when it's possible, link to an example... and tell me please under what os you are running xampp, win or linux.
