mine has been resolved though, a friend advised to remove skype messenger on my laptop, immediately I did that, it started working again

If you have Skype running it uses port 80. Try to change Apache port to sometning like 8080 or 8088

It may not be very professional, but when xampp doesn't work after installation I install it again. I always turn off skype and other programs connecting to the Internet.
In most cases it helps me

I noticed that I can't start Apache (in Xampp Control Panel), if Skype was started before.
They both use port 80 and 443.
I shut down Skype and everything is fine.
Can I change the port(s) in Apache and how ?
