Re: Mail Function Setup

I finally figured it out after a month! This is how it is done

1. Create a folder in your Documents named TestEmails
2. Open the terminal and enter the following command

Code: Select all
sudo chmod 777 ~/Documents/TestEmails/

3. Open the php.ini file that is located in your /opt/lampp/etc directory
4. Press CTRL+F and then type "mail function"
5. Under the [mail function] remove comment from sendmail_path
6. Set sendmail_path to
Code: Select all
 sendmail_path = "cat > /home/USERNAME/Documents/TestEmails/`date '+%Y-%m-%d - %H-%M-%S'`.eml"
BUT MAKE SURE TO REPLACE USERNAME with your own username
7. If Apache is running, restart it

Re: Problem with specifying the database path on an external

Probably the MySQL Server, which runs with a different UserID than yours (i.e. daemon or somewhat, i am not an OSX user, but its similar to Linux), does not have sufficient rights to access the database (including writing, creating and deleting files). You have to assure that the flash drive is mounted with proper rights. If in doubt, ask in an OSX forum how to modify the rights for mounted drives. These are defined by the mount command, after the drive is mounted you CANNOT modify the rights via chmod or similar commands.

Re: I can not log in to phpmyadmin

Try to change the rights of the file (chmod), if you cannot, you cannot solve it.

Re: FTP credentials

roadparc wrote:I use the XAMPP version: XAMPP-VM / PHP 7.1.26 and this is how I solved this problem:

The FTP Credentials for the new Xampp Versions are:

daemon
xampp

When WordPress asks you for the credentials you have to put the IP of your XAMPP server which you can find in the Stack Manager Launcher, and the credentials above.

Also you will have to change the permissions for your WordPress installation directory.
Open terminal from your XAMPP Stack manager launcher and type the following command:

sudo chown -R daemon:staff /opt/lampp/htdocs/YourWP

Changing "YourWP" for the name of your WordPress directory.

If the credentials don't work try a password reset by typing the following command in terminal:
/opt/lampp/lampp security

Hope it helps

I found a problem changing the owner of the folder and it is that you won't be able to do changes when mounting the folder in Finder.
Instead the solution would be changing only the group and give permissions to the daemon group:

sudo chown -R bitnami:daemon /opt/lampp/htdocs/YourWP
sudo chmod -R g+rwx /opt/lampp/htdocs/YourWP

Changing "YourWP" for the name of your WordPress directory.

The first command changes the group for the folder and its content.
The second command gives read, write and execute permissions for the group.

Re: How to use mod_auth_basic for basic auth with linux user

chmod u+s /usr/bin/pwauth does also not work, i copied /usr/bin/pwauth to /usr/bin/pwauth2 because i don't want to touch the original file. so chmod u+s /usr/bin/pwauth2 and /usr/bin/pwauth2 in apache config. does also not work?!?

Maybe it's not compatible on Rasbpian stretch??

XAMPP 7.2.12 Syntax Error

I tried to install XAMPP onto my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS machine I tried the latest version I could see. The first time that I downloaded it from https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html the file was not run-able and was treated as a text file by my computer, so I went to SorceForge and when I downloaded the file it was seen correctly by my computer but when I tried to execute the file through the command line I got an error about an unterminated quoted string. I tried to look in the code to edit the error, but the code looked like random numbers and symbols (I guess that's from sha1).
This is what the code looked like
sudo chmod 755 xampp-linux-x64-7.2.12-0-installer.run
sudo ./xampp-linux-x64-7.2.12-0-installer.run
./xampp-linux-x64-7.2.12-0-installer.run: 1: ./xampp-linux-x64-7.2.12-0-installer.run: Syntax error: Unterminated quoted string

Danke
Gruß Peter

Re: Unistall Xampp

WilsonFragata wrote:my friend, your command doesn't run.

It DEFINATELY does run, but if it does not work as expected, it means, that there is NOT installed ANYTHING. No Xampp at all!

WilsonFragata wrote:any way, I simply cannot install xampp on my Ubuntu, I don't know the reasons.

The reason is, you are total newbie and that makes it a little more difficult. You are doing lots of things wrong, we will find out:

WilsonFragata wrote:Ok right, so when i command: chmod 755 xampp-linux-*-installer.run + enter, appears that:

That means, there is no Xampp installer at all! There are three different reasons:

1) Maybe your download has failed, you did not download anything.
2) Maybe you downloaded the installer, but you mistyped something in that command.
3) Maybe you downloaded the installer and you typed everything correctly, but you are not in the folder, where you downloaded the file. Every download is stored into a folder and you have to change directory into that folder before doing anything.

So lets find out, start a terminal, then enter this command:

Code: Select all
ls xampp*run

If nothing shows up, the file is NOT in your home folder. Otherwise the full file name should show up.
If nothing shows up, lets try the Downloads folder of your home:

Code: Select all
cd Downloads

and then again enter

Code: Select all
ls xampp*run

If still nothing shows up, something has gone wrong with the download, you have to download it again.

Otherwise, now you can enter the first command from the installation description, you may shorten the file name even more to avoid mistyping it:

Code: Select all
chmod 755 ./xampp*run

and then:

Code: Select all
sudo ./xampp*run

This finally should start the installer,a grafical installer will start. BEWARE: there is NO Xampp for 32bit linux, you MUST HAVE a 64bit Linux installed. If you have 32bit Ubuntu, you CANNOT install Xampp.

Re: Unistall Xampp

my friend, your command doesn't run.
any way, I simply cannot install xampp on my Ubuntu, I don't know the reasons. For example, in FAQ page xampp, I saw this instructions:

How do I install XAMPP?
Answer:
Choose your flavor for your linux OS, the 32-bit or 64-bit version.

Change the permissions to the installer

chmod 755 xampp-linux-*-installer.run

Run the installer

sudo ./xampp-linux-*-installer.run

Ok right, so when i command: chmod 755 xampp-linux-*-installer.run + enter, appears that:

and so on only problems
So, I command: sudo ./xampp-linux-*-installer.run + enter and then i get to install, but the installation was not complete
I can't run the software, I can't to config Apache, MSQL and etc.
that's because I want to unistall e reinstall again

Thank you

Errcode: 13 "Permissiv denied"

Hallo,

Code: Select all
ERROR: Failed to restart "mysql": cannot start service: /opt/lampp/bin/mysqld_safe_helper: Can't create/write to file '/opt/lampp/var/mysql/debian.err' (Errcode: 13 "Permission denied")

Es hat schonmal funktioniert. Weiß nicht genau, was ich verstellt habe. Meine letzten ausgeführten Befehle in der Konsole (Debian) waren:
Code: Select all
sudo chmod 755 /opt/lampp/htdocs

und
Code: Select all
 sudo chown -R root:root /
