Re: Chromebook Install Fails - Chromebooks work well for Web

ChromeWannbe wrote:No useful help when doing search on this error. All assume the is a Chrome Browser issue.

Thats the problem when trying to run the totally wrong binary code on the totally wrong processor. There is no room left for any meaningfull error message, as this is so horribly wrong, you also could try to run your car with honey and milk instead of Gas - it wont work. That error message is a last resort, a "help me" cry from your processor (which one?), that he has no idea what to do with that weird file.

Xampp is only available for Intel 64bit processors.

Re: Help with conf files for xampp

Thank you Nobbie. I have decided to uninstall Xampp due to the many who say it is not secure even though it it is deliciously easy to install all 3 components.
I only got into it because I had so much trouble getting mySQL and php installed with the regular Apache 2.
The Apache works fine but I will have to try again for the other two.

BTW I did look at the xampp error log and this is what was in it for the last 2 days.

Re: OCI8 Problems [Worked Around]

While I have not been able to get OCI8 working in XAMPP yet, I have been able to get it working as part of a generic LAMP stack. :D It's not ideal for me, but it does work well enough to get me by. I'll document here the steps I took, in case anybody else needs such a function. (or maybe knows how to get the same type of paths in XAMPP updated so it'll work in XAMPP?)

Installation of the LAMP stack was pretty simple. I'm using Linux Mint 19.2 XCFE, which is Ubuntu-based and uses the Debian packaging system. To use a mostly pre-configured system, simply do the following:
Code: Select all
sudo apt update
sudo apt install tasksel
sudo apt install lamp-server

You can test & alter the configuration of the LAMP stack however you wish. At the time of this writing, this will install PHP 7.2 & MySQL 5.0.12. The default directory for HTML & PHP scripts is /var/www/html.

I installed PHPMyAdmin through my distro's software manager. It recognized the installed PHP & MySQL, and offered to associate the settings automatically.

Next, I took the following steps to get OCI8 working:

1. Download the Oracle Instant Client and SDK from Oracle website. (Need to login in Oracle page)
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/linuxx86-64soft-092277.html
Files: instantclient-basic-linux.x64-12.2.0.1.0.zip & instantclient-sdk-linux.x64-12.2.0.1.0.zip

2. Create a target folder for the instant client, and extract the files into it
Code: Select all
sudo mkdir /opt/oracle
sudo cp /home/ralplpcr/Downloads/instant*.* /opt/oracle/
cd /opt/oracle
sudo unzip instantclient-basic-linux.x64-12.2.0.1.0.zip
sudo unzip instantclient-sdk-linux.x64-12.2.0.1.0.zip

3. Create symlinks to Instant client files
Code: Select all
sudo ln -s /opt/oracle/instantclient_12_2/libclntsh.so.12.1 /opt/oracle/instantclient_12_2/libclntsh.so
sudo ln -s /opt/oracle/instantclient_12_2/libocci.so.12.1 /opt/oracle/instantclient_12_2/libocci.so

4. Add folder to our ldconfig & update run-time bindings
Code: Select all
sudo su
echo /opt/oracle/instantclient_12_2 > /etc/ld.so.conf.d/oracle-instantclient
ldconfig

5. Install the necessary packages to build & compile the OCI8 packages from PECL (still in superuser mode)
Code: Select all
apt-get install php-dev php-pear build-essential libaio1
apt install php-dev
pecl channel-update pecl.php.net
pecl install oci8

When you are prompted for the Instant Client location, enter the following:
Code: Select all
instantclient,/opt/oracle/instantclient_12_2

6. Tell PHP to load the OCI8 extension
Code: Select all
echo "extension =oci8.so" >> /etc/php/7.2/fpm/php.ini
echo "extension =oci8.so" >> /etc/php/7.2/cli/php.ini
echo "extension =oci8.so" >> /etc/php/7.2/apache2/php.ini

7. Add Apache environment variables:
Code: Select all
echo "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/oracle/instantclient_12_2" >> /etc/apache2/envvars
echo "export ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/instantclient_12_2" >> /etc/apache2/envvars
echo "LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/oracle/instantclient_12_2:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH" >> /etc/environment

8. Restart Apache & check if OCI8 is loaded
Code: Select all
systemctl restart apache2
php -m | grep 'oci8'

If this returns OCI8, then you've succeeded!
Image

9. Verify function works for web server
Create a simple phpinfo.php file in /var/www/html:
Code: Select all
<?php phpinfo(); ?>

Open a web browser and navigate to the server. (For me, LOCALHOST worked just fine) Open your phpinfo.php file, and search for oci8.
It should now have a section of it's own in phpinfo, and show as enabled.

Image

I'm still hoping to eventually get this working in XAMPP... but at least I now this will be good enough to get me by.
If anyone here knows how to apply a similar operation to the XAMPP installation instead of a generic LAMPP stack, please feel free to chime in!

after starting xampp in linux, mysql server gets killed

I have installed the Bitnami XAMPP

XAMPP for Linux 64bit 5.6.40-1
having
- PHP to 5.6.40
- MariaDB to 10.1.37
- OpenSSL 1.0.2q
installed on Debian GNU Linux 9
I tried to start my xampp for linux

Code: Select all
tanzeem@debian-tzm:~$ sudo /opt/lampp/lampp restart
[sudo] password for tanzeem:
Restarting XAMPP for Linux 5.6.40-1...
XAMPP: Stopping Apache...ok.
XAMPP: Stopping MySQL...not running.
XAMPP: Stopping ProFTPD...ok.
XAMPP: Starting Apache...ok.
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...ok.
XAMPP: Starting ProFTPD...ok.

Immediately the mysql server stops automatically with the following message
Code: Select all
 /opt/lampp/bin/mysql.server: 264: kill: No such process

I have the following entries int /etc/mysql even after I uninstalled my default mysql server
debian.cnf koha-common.cnf mariadb.conf.d/
debian-start mariadb.cnf

Part of Content of file `/opt/lampp/var/mysql/<hostname>.err` for the date after reinstalling xampp and when tried to start xampp in linux is attached:

xampp itself is not in the fedora repos, but the components it contains are, so you could simply install them with dnf which may be easier and would keep everything up to date in the future.

Re: XAMPP is only 32bit compatible ?

No, there are only 64bit versions of XAMPP for Linux available (at least the versions released the last couple of years)

Help copying wordpress site to local Lampp server

Version of Xampp: XAMPP for Linux 64bit 7.3.3-1
operating system: ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS

Hi,

I'm trying to copy my wordpress site to my local server using lampp. I’ve followed the following tutorial:

https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/move-wordpress-xampp/#manual-move
I'm following method 2: Moving wordpress website manually

I'm at the point where I need to load up my site & clear up my database (search & replace the url), but I can’t seem to bring up my website in a browser.

If it helps, here’s how my wp_config file currently looks:

define('DB_NAME', 'lvgh_local');

/** MySQL database username */
define('DB_USER', 'root');

/** MySQL database password */
define('DB_PASSWORD', '');

/** MySQL hostname (contained the folllowing: 'cust-mysql-123-20') */
define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');
/**localhost***/

/** Database Charset to use in creating database tables. */
define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8');

/** The Database Collate type. Don't change this if in doubt. */
define('DB_COLLATE', '');

//** **//
define( 'WP_HOME', 'http://localhost/lvgh_site_test' );
define( 'WP_SITEURL', 'http://localhost/lvgh' );

-----------------------------

In the browser:
If I type in http://localhost It just brings up the standard Xampp dashboard
If I type in https://localhost/lvgh/ I get the following error:

Error 404
localhost
Apache/2.4.38 (Unix) OpenSSL/1.0.2r PHP/7.3.3 mod_perl/2.0.8-dev Perl/v5.16.3

I put the website in the following location opt/lampp/htdocs/lvgh_site_test/ there is still another wordpress folder that came with the lampp install in the htdocs folder, which I don’t have permissions to get rid of, I’m not sure if that’s causing an issue or not.

Does anyone have any advice please? It would be a massive help if so.

Thanks

Re: XAMPP 32 bit for Ubuntu 16.04

32bit isnt supported for Xampp Linux anymore, either install 64bit Ubuntu or download an older 32bit version of Xampp. You can find all installers here, you need to find one without x64 in the name, you need to go back to 2016 at least: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xampp/ ... P%20Linux/
