cannot log in to mysql server mysqli_real_connect():

I am using windows 10 and xamp v3.2.2. I set a password in config.inc.php and I get the following error message:
"cannot log in to mysql server mysqli_real_connect():)HY000/1045):Access denied for user 'root@localhost' (using password: yes).

if I remove the password, I can log in to phpmyadmin with no errors. I would like to set a password. Where do I set or reset the password in mysql. Is there an easy way to correct this issue.

Also how do I insert an image or images

error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'HBXXXX01.hXXXX.com' (using password: NO
)'

Wie kann ich das richtig machen?

Ciao, toddehb?

phpMyAdmin login error

while i was in phpmyadmin i set up a password. after i saved the password, phpmyadmin kicked me out and is now giving me these errors.

MySQL said:
cannot connect: invalid settings.

mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/1045): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

Dump/import db on original comp ok, but not on another comp

Xampp 5.6.24 on both comps. Original comp is Windows 2012 Server, the other is Windows 7.

Using cli on both.

These 2 commands work on the Windows 2012 Server
Dump command: mysqldump -u root -pPassword --opt --result-file=c:\path\to\folder\joomla_db.sql db_name
Import command: mysql -u root -pPassword -D db_name < c:\path\to\folder\joomla_db.sql

On the Windows 7 comp. the import command results in:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Or in a similar fashion.
On the Windows 2012 Server,
I dumped the db per the above command.
I uninstalled xampp 5.6.24.
I installed xampp 7.2.11.
Started apache and mysql.
Did the import command from above and got the same result:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Can anyone tell me why? Or offer suggestions?

Thanks

PW für root geändert -> phpmyadmin Fehler

Hallo zusaammen,

mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/1045): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

Andreas

Re: MySQL connection error (HY000/1045): Access denied for u

*** update to my post ***

Still getting this access denied error trying to connect to mysql from the command line:

C:\xampp\mysql\bin>mysql --user=root --password
Enter password: ********
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

The Control Panel shows port 3308 being used for MySQL.
However, starting MySQL, gives the following "Problem detected" message.
But then it shows mysql running, despite the supposed port conflict.

Note that I set the port in C:\xampp\mysql\bin\my.ini to 3308:
port = 3308
I also set the port to 3308 in C:\Program Files\MariaDB 10.2\data\my.ini

However, I still get the following "Port 3306 in use" message, even though I changed the port to 3308 to fix the supposed port conflict.

2:52:36 PM [mysql] Attempting to stop MySQL app...
2:52:37 PM [mysql] Status change detected: stopped
2:52:40 PM [mysql] Problem detected!

2:52:40 PM [mysql] MySQL WILL NOT start without the configured ports free!
2:52:40 PM [mysql] You need to uninstall/disable/reconfigure the blocking application
2:52:40 PM [mysql] or reconfigure MySQL and the Control Panel to listen on a different port
2:52:40 PM [mysql] Attempting to start MySQL app...
2:52:41 PM [mysql] Status change detected: running

I have run out of ideas of things to change to resolve this. Still can't connect to MySQL.

Re: phpMyAdmin - Access Denied!

Hi,

Either there is a foreign MySQL/MariaDB Server running or you setted a password for user root.

MySQL connection error (HY000/1045): Access denied for user

Attention XAMPP & MySQL Gurus!
Help! Getting No traction on a DB connection error!
still cannot get the planets to line up!
*^&%$#!! totally frustrated!

I know that I am not the first to post on this subject, but am having no luck with anything I have googled so far.

Warning: mysqli_connect(): (HY000/1045): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'
(using password: YES) in C:\xampp\htdocs\dbconnect.php on line 8 (the mysqli_connect call)

Environment:
Win 7 Pro
Installed XAMPP V3.2.2, running Apache & MySQL

Get this error trying to connect from php script to MySQL DB:

From the browser (Chrome), running this:
http://localhost:81/dbconnect.php

<?php
# db connect parms
$dbhost = 'localhost';
$dbuser = 'root';
$dbpwd = 's3kr1t';
$dbname = 'gmap1';

$dbcon = mysqli_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpwd, $dbname);
?>

Returns this error:

Warning: mysqli_connect(): (HY000/1045): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'
(using password: YES) in C:\xampp\htdocs\dbconnect.php on line 8 (the mysqli_connect call)

So far I have done this:

* added a root password for root (default was no password)
* logged on to phpMyAdmin as root
* created a db (gmap1), table, and loaded data to it
* in phpMyAdmin selected the table data and successfully exported it
* confirmed that MySQL user root has all db access privileges:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD 'passroot';
So, root should be able to connect to the db!

I have worn google out researching this problem tried everything suggested to no avail

Any help much appreciated! I will even give you the rest of the day off!

New database user and db fails

Good afternoon team, I have a problem where I have created a database, and a user with passwd, the only problem is when I try to connect to it
it fails, :-
Warning: mysqli_connect(): (HY000/1045): Access denied for user 'finder'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in D:\xampp\htdocs\finder\install\index.php on line 48
Error: Unable to connect to mysql server.

I have mad sure all is upper case, have selected all priv's

If I put the script on a cpanel server everything works, but not on xampp, now I am fully aware most of you uses root and no password
but I dont want to...

Any pointers would be grateful, seems a shame to scrap xampp and stay with a real server... it must be something silly I am doing

All the best from Alan

Error 403 when trying to link username to profile

Making a social media site using PHP/MySQL.

Have made the register/login system, the frontend design of the site (including header included on every page) and a newsfeed where posts can be written.

Have now started the comment section option. Trying to post a link of a username ([firstname]_[lastname]) which was set when the user registers. It links to a profile page for that user.

Onclick, nothing happens. Right click-> open in new tab -> and this error appears:

You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

Tried editing the Xampp httpd.conf file, changing the "Require all granted" to Require none" and back. No change.

Here's my httpd.conf file:

# This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file.  It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/> for detailed information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/directives.html>
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do.  They're here only as hints or reminders.  If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path.  If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/access_log"
# with ServerRoot set to "/usr/local/apache2" will be interpreted by the
# server as "/usr/local/apache2/logs/access_log", whereas "/logs/access_log"
# will be interpreted as '/logs/access_log'.
#
# NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
# instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
# If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which httpd.exe is located
# will be used by default.  It is recommended that you always supply
# an explicit drive letter in absolute paths to avoid confusion.

#
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path.  If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to specify a local disk on the
# Mutex directive, if file-based mutexes are used.  If you wish to share the
# same ServerRoot for multiple httpd daemons, you will need to change at
# least PidFile.
#
ServerRoot "I:/xampp/apache"

#
# Mutex: Allows you to set the mutex mechanism and mutex file directory
# for individual mutexes, or change the global defaults
#
# Uncomment and change the directory if mutexes are file-based and the default
# mutex file directory is not on a local disk or is not appropriate for some
# other reason.

xampp serve pdfs outside of root directory

I have xammp installed, apache and mysql on my server, installed as a windows service. I have loaded some data into the database, and wrote a new index page to serve up the data, depending on user input to the page. Kind of a search page for data on a part number input, I work for a manufacturer, you enter a part number on the page, the page loads the part's description, drawing number, etc. The page also builds a link to the pdf drawing file of the part number. This pdf sits outside the htdocs folder, it is on the same letter drive, but not in the same install directory of xampp. When I try the link, I get the 403 access error. How do I get xampp to serve the pdf drawing file?

Things I have tried: editing config files changing some allow overrides and require all. I did restart xammp after this but not the entire server. I am still getting the access denied 403 error.

First, is it possible to do what I need (serve up a pdf from outside the root). If it is possible.....how? Am I on the right track or not?

I was going to include a picture of the directory structure, but it appears you can't upload a picture directly to the forums? You have to upload it to your own website and link it here......bummer.

Thanks for your help.

Locked myself out of MySQL - How to get back in?

Hello fellow people.

I'm an MySQL noob in general, and I wanted to protect my database using a password. So, I generated a password and saved it, and right after I reloaded (after I clicked Save Password in MyPhPAdmin) myPhPAdmin said: Access denied for user 'root@localhost' (USING PASSWORD: NO).

Generally, I freaked out. I was going to MySQL's config in XAMPP and setting up the client password to be the same as the database's password, but it did not work. I'm getting this error message while trying to access my MySQL database through: localhost/phpmyadmin. How can I enter my password, exactly?

PHPMyadmin access and other issues

Hello,

I set a password for mysql directly through PHPMyAdmin. This caused me to no longer be able to access PHPMyAdmin, saying:

#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

I then searched on google and found that to allows access, I need to change the config.inc.php file. However, I do not have permission to do so. I then searched how to gain permission. To do this, the web says to use console commands to first reach the root path. For example, this path:

/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/xampp

I get the error that this path does not exist.

It seems this path simply does not exist on my mac. I can follow to Applications/XAMPP.app, but it ends there. My question is, how can I change my password again or change config.inc.php so I can access PHPMyadmin.

I have been searching for four hours already for solutions, and am totally stuck.
Thanks for your help, :)

Xampp phpMyAdmin fails to connect to MySQL server

Good evening,
my PC's Xampp phpMyAdmin fails to access MySQL.

This is the message that appears on the browser when loading localhost / phpMyAdmin:

#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/1045): Access denied for user 'pma'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/1045): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

Do I have to reconfigure the configuration file?

Please ask your help on how to solve this problem
thanks for your attention
