Hallo zusammen!

Zuvörderst: XAMPP mit MySQL 5.0.51 auf WinXP Pro SP2.

Die Situation: Ich teste gerade mit XAMPP eine größere Datenbankanwendung und muss die voreingestellten, recht kleinen Caches von MySQL vergrößern, damit man nicht 15 Sekunden auf eine Seite warte muss.

Das Problem: Die Änderungen, die ich in der C:\xampp\mysql\bin\my.cnf vornehme, interessieren MySQL trotz Dienst-Neustart nicht. SHOW VARIABLES zeigt immer noch die alten Werte an (z. Bsp. innodb buffer pool size 8M statt wie in der my.cnf angegeben 256M). Laut error log ist MySQL aber glückich, also keine Fehler beim Lesen der Konfigurationsdatei. Ich wäre für Tipps zur Behebung oder zur weiteren Fehlersuche dankbar.

Das wäre ja einfach... Nee, es ist die einzige my.cnf auf dem ganzen Rechner.

Du weißt, dass man beim Start des Clients angeben, welche Datei die Konfigurationsdatei sein soll - und die braucht nicht my.cnf zu heißen.

Also noch einmal: bist Du sicher, dass Du die richtige Datei bearbeitest?

Ich bin mir zwar nicht sicher, was Du mit dem Client gemeint hast, aber: Offensichtlich verwendet MySQL unter Windows die C:\windows\my.ini. Danke Dir.

Sieh Dir mal mysql/mysql_installservice.bat an,
nicht umsonst wird dort my.cnf als my.ini ins %windir% kopiert ...

Fazit: immer beide Dateien auf dem gleichen Stand halten.

mysqladmin closes after 2 secondss.

lol i seen alot of people complaining about this... its fine.

it starts up then minimizes right away to the system tray... the item you see loooking like street lights left click on it and click show me. and it doesnt keep closing.

simple as that.
