Sorry, that was actually little information. The installation runs without XAMPP on an Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS machine and Apache/2.4.41 (Ubuntu). I suspect the vhosts configuration is wrong, but I don't know where the error could be either. That's why I wanted to ask in general whether the configuration seems plausible or whether it already contains obvious errors. The problem I described above relates to a dashboard called "Heimdall". But asI said, I guess it's not a problem of a specific web service, but rather the vhosts/apache configuration.

I installed apache2 on this host called NAS2 and set up a few virtual hosts, they're running fine. So, I decided to access them from another computer (laptop) on the network. First, I added NAS2 to the host file of my laptop, still no luck:

After that my laptop can access the apache server on NAS2, great - it shows the apache welcome page when I navigate to http://nas2. However, it doesn't show the site associated with other http headers - the http://wp.prod.ellevator.net that I put in the host file on my laptop still returns the default welcome page from apache. On NAS2 however, it works fine - apache delivers the virtuals hosts that I request through my browser.

I tried adding "Allow from all" to apache2.conf:

Today my HelloWorld.php got an empty page. The address was file:///J:/xampp/htdocs/EXPERIMENTS/HelloWorld.php. "Localhost" addresses are not working today.

In addition, I tried one of the xampp php files, file:///J:/xampp/htdocs/index.php
This got a page saying: "Something is wrong with the XAMPP installation "

Upon starting up the Xampp Control Panel this morning I got the following error alert:

httpd.exe - No Disk

"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk4\DR4."

The Event Viewer showed "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk6\DR6."

Nevertheless, the Control Panel did come up. Apache, MySQL and FileZilla were yellow, green, green respectively and looked like they were started because they had a Stop button.
Mercury and Tomcat had no color and the Actions button still said Start. Control panel messages indicated that the Apache, Mysql and Filezilla statuses were running.

At present all Apache, MySQL and FileZilla are running as a process rather than a service (in other words have a red X under Modules Service). Yesterday they had all been successfully changed to a service. MySql and FileZilla came up with red X's this morning; so I changed Apache back to run as a process, too, to see if that would help, and re-booted. But PHP still wouldn't work.

Then after some time all 3 processes quit working.

I'm able to successfully call COM by running php file standalone, like : php mytest.php (which contain the following codes), but in my xampp environment, I write similar code but return error that COM class not found.

installed VirtueMart 2.0.2 on Joomla 2.5.1 and it got me a lot of " error "messages on de website when clicking the webshop, like this:

The removing of the Windows services entries in the registry via the Service Controller would apply if there were log files already created in the new installation or any previous installation.

There is no harm in trying that method though, but if it returns a message 'nothing to do' then the issue may well be the missing runtime file, as is often the case with older Windows versions like XP and Vista (and even with some newer Windows versions).

The indication of a missing runtime file is that no log files are created at all which means that Apache has never started, as it will create entries (often error messages) when at attempt is made to start and also entries are created when it stops.

You can issue a command from the Run... text box to get rid of those if they have not been removed when you uninstalled them.

You may have to be logged in as an Admin to perform the following actions.

Open a command prompt
(In Win7 http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/94 ... rompt.html )

Click start
Click on Run...
Type: cmd.exe

Remove old or sticky services.
Apache
Type:
sc delete apache2.2
Click OK

MySQL
Type:
sc delete mysql
Click OK

Check they have gone from the Service Manager.

sc is the service controller and once those sticking services are removed you should be able to proceed.

There is a conflict with port 80 and if possible it is best to disable what ever is using the web server default port 80 as if you change the Listen port then this can lead to possible issues down the track.


Without a 404 log file entry it will be hard to solve your 404 issue but after we get Apache using port 80 then it may be that there will be a log file entry.

The 'system' using port 80 can be one of 2 things - as suggested earlier the installation of the SQL server has an agent using port 80 and so if possible temporarily disable this or have the SQL server agent listen on a different port than port 80 (Microsoft seems to prefer that you use their $$$ products rather than a free Apache server and so seems to like hogging port 80 when ever it can)

The other could be that you are have installed the service module for Apache and MySQL (a green tick in the CP3 service module column).
If possible try and remove the ticks and answer the question when asked.

If it is not possible to remove the ticks then in CP3 there is a Win-service button and when pressed will go to the Service Controller where you can Start or Stop Apache2.2 then when you return to the CP3 you may be able to start Apache.

Also in the Service Controller you may be able to find the SQL server entry listed and perhaps be able to disable it for now.

There is a conflict with port 80 and if possible it is best to disable what ever is using the web server default port 80 as if you change the Listen port then this can lead to possible issues down the track.


Without a 404 log file entry it will be hard to solve your 404 issue but after we get Apache using port 80 then it may be that there will be a log file entry.

It would be advisable to uninstall correctly and do a fresh install by following this procedure.

Start the XAMPP Control Panel.
Make sure there are no ticks in any of the Svc check boxes.
Stop all XAMPP components.
Press 'Exit' in the XAMPP Control Panel.
Delete the xampp folder completely after backing up your own files.
Reboot as it often helps clean things up.

Try and install again using your preferred method but if you want to also change the installer method then follow my preferred method instructions below for the ZIP or 7zip version.

Download the ZIP or 7zip version of XAMPP.
Extract (drag) the xampp folder to the C:\ drive or the root of any drive or partition like D:\, E:\, etc.
Run the C:\xampp\setup_xampp.bat file (this sets the correct paths for you).
Open the XAMPP Control Panel version 3 (xampp-control-3-bets.exe) found in the xampp folder and start Apache and MySQL (do not tick any service module boxes)
When both Apache and MySQL are running type http://localhost/ select your language and exercise all the demos in the left menu frame.

You should now be able to proceed and enjoy XAMPP.

Hi, I am not sure if I am posting in the right place, but I was able to get xampp 1.7.7 with xampp controller 3 on Win 7 x64 working... I decided to delete the folder and reinstall it... now apache will not start and there are not conflicts with the ports. I did notice that it is not creating an error.log file for apache.... not sure if it's permissions, but i gave full control on permissions.

Any ideas?

Hello. Hoping I am posting this in the correct area within the forum. I have a Windows 64 bit o/s. I want to set up a local PHP development environment for website authoring (Dreamweaver/Wodpress). It was recommended to try XAMPP. I checked the website, I didn't see a download specific to Win 7 64 bit ( (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html) so I downloaded XAMPP for Windows to my laptop. I installed XAMPP using the installer and installed it at C:\xampp. I believe I chose to enable Apache and MySQL as 'Windows services' . The installation seemed to go okay, sort of. I remember seeing an error indicating something such as 'Error: status check failure 3, must install at root, busy' (I thought I did..... it installed at C:\xampp). The XAMPP Controller Panel application then popped up, I can see Apache & MqSQL in green status/running. I then logged into http://localhost/ and received the welcome screen. I clicked on the security section and set a Root password. I also allowed 'phpMyAdmin connects to MySQL as the root superuser' via a cookie. (was that the best option?). I then chose to test the PHP installation via the tools phpinfo menu, I then received 'Cannot log in to the MySQL server' via the phpMyAdmin. I am sure I am entering the correct username/password. I don't know what I did wrong.

Not sure if this helps but in the XAMPP Controller Panel , I can not stop either the Apache or MqSQL service. I also checked the root directory and found:

ich hoffe ihr könnt mir helfen.

Wir haben als Reverse Proxy in unserer DMZ den Apache 2.0.63. Jetzt möchten wir "RPC over hTTP" einrichten leider bekommen wir es nicht hin.

Info: Intern haben wir einen Frondend Exchange 2003 und mehrere Exchange 2003 BackendServer mit aktuellen Service Packs

Meine Frage: Ist euch vielleicht bekannt das es mit dieser Apache version nicht funktioniert? bzw. welche Version benötige ich damit ich dies einrichten kann?

Ist euch dort was bekannt?
Webmail funktioniert ohne Probleme alle Ports und Server sind auch erreichbar mit allen nötigen Ports, auch intern funktioniert dieses RPC over HTTPS.

Doch leider bekomme ich keine Verbindung von extern hin. Alle Test mit Telnet vom Reverse Proxy ( in der DMZ) zu allen Exchange servern und Domain Controller funktioniert
